Imparja Television, founded in 1988, is unique as it is Australia's last independent television station, is proudly 100% Aboriginal owned.
As well as indigenous and locally produced programs, including local news updates and children’s show “Yamba’s Playtime”, Imparja purchases its programming from the Nine Network enabling a lively and varied programming schedule. Imparja is a free-to-air television broadcaster, with a broadcast area over 3.6 million square kilometres, spanning 5 states and territories – NT, SA, QLD, NSW and VIC with 430,000 resident viewers and our service is also watched by up to 6million tourists who visit Outback Australia each year.
Imparja plays an important role for its broadcast area, by providing information and communication services and well as funds and support for charities and community events.
